We have had a busy few months with our customers including the consultation work that has taken place around the merger, view page. Those customers joined us on visits to the potential partners during April and were able to feedback their findings and thoughts.
Our Customer Advisory Group (CAG) have so far reviewed six of our customer facing policies, which include MAS, ASB, DVA, Scooter and Mobile Aids, Adult and Child Safeguarding and Rent and Service Charges. A number of these policies have been improved and enhanced as a result of the CAG review.
We held an Easter event at Clifford Court in Stockport and an engagement event at Chatsworth Lodge in Buxton. This gave us an opportunity to meet customers and take any feedback on the services we provide. It also gives customers a chance to let us know any ideas they may have to improve communication and engagement.
Recently we have worked with our Money Advice Team to deliver workshops in Sheffield to help customers with budgeting. It also gave the team the opportunity to talk about benefits customers can claim and address any debts that may be held. This was in addition to the work that has been via social media, including a Facebook Live session, around our Money Advice Month that occurred in June. Our Charity of the Year
Each July we select our charity of the year to support for the forthcoming year.
Last year we chose St Ann’s Hospice in Heald Green, Stockport as our charity of the year, setting a target of £5,000 to raise within the 12 month period.
Monies raised within that period would go to help the local hospice with the day to day running of their patient support programme – the hospice requires a staggering £20,000 a day to stay open.
Colleagues from across the Group devised a number of ways to raise money – one such event involved 12 colleagues climbing Snowdon on a wet and rainy Sunday morning in October which raised a fantastic £2,800. We managed to smash the £5,000 total set, raising a grand total of £5,500 for St Ann’s Hospice.
We are proud members of HouseProud North West, continuing the good work that has already been achieved by them with our LGBT communities. Over the past few years we have continued to provide support for those customers who identify as LGBT, including hosting the very first LGBT Residents Conference. This gave residents from housing associations from across the North West, the opportunity to network and share ideas and experiences, whilst finding out more about what’s going on in the sector. One of our very own residents also designed the artwork for the event.
HouseProud North West work within the housing sector to raise awareness about LGBT communities, including sharing good practice for supporting older LGBT customers. They also create opportunities to engage with customers through training and events to promote the ‘customer voice’.
If you would like more information about the support we offer our LGBT customers please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Over the past few weeks colleagues have had the opportunity to attend Trans Awareness training hosted at our Head Office. It enabled our colleagues to better understand trans people and the challenges they face as well as dispelling myths and misunderstandings about all LGBT people and different gender identities.
To continue this work we will be attending Stockport Pride on Sunday 28 July in Stockport Town Centre. It’s a free event and we hope to see some of our customers there. For more information please email email@example.com
